Welcome to the home page of Committee Sherman tank Overloon.

In October 1944, right after the Battle of Arnhem, the Battle of Overloon took place in the surroundings of the village. This battle is also known as 'The battle in the shadow' and 'The forgotten battle'. A fierce battle between the allied and  German forces, with big losses on both sides.

The American 7th Armored Division, nicknamed The Lucky 7th, was one of the participants in this battle. To honour this division a group of volunteers is working on the restoration of a Sherman tank. The restored tank will be added to the monument of the 7th Armored Division on the Museumplein in Overloon.

On this web site all information concerning this project can be found and the tank restoration can be followed by frequent updated photos and articles. Also the history of the battle of Overloon and the history of The 7th Armored Division is told.

In co-production with BlosRTV and Vidso Video & Sound Producties the committee made the documentary Autumn Storm, the story of the Lucky 7th and their battle in the Peel- and Maas area. The direct link to this documentary can be found via tab Unveiling of Sherman 2011.
